Enomalytesting

Enomaly Elastic Computing Platform (ECP) is commercial software for IaaS deployment but free version is available as well.

Resources

Lenovo Think Tower workstation, AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor with SVM extension (head node).

Hypervisor

XEN hypervisor v. 3.0.3 was used as virtualization tool. KVM is also supported.

Installation notes

It is recomended to update libvirt package to version 0.4.1 or highter for better functionality, and awailability to connect with VNC client.

VM and images configuration

VM's with following configurations are available under VGTU cloud:

    * CentOS? 5.2 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU, HVM image (needs HVM support from hardware)
    * Fedora 9 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU, HVM image (needs HVM support from hardware)

Following VM images are accesible for user:

    * CentOS? 5.2 (Downloaded from global Enomaly repository)
    * Fedora 9 (Downloaded from global Enomaly repository)

Problems

Following problems acured during installation and configuration:

    * Hardware - it is recomended to use host with HVM support i.e. CPU's utilizing AMD SVM (Secure Virtual Machine), or Intel(R) Virtualization Technology (currently VT-x).
    * Joining hosts in cluster is complicated and documented very poor.
    * Problems with using Enomalism and Eucalyptus on same hardware. Both products are using their own network bridges, that couses working issues.

Work To Do

    *  Test Enomalism API
    * Test possibilities to connect host from different subnet then Enomalism cluster
